As a group we hope to make a difference in some deserving entruepenuers lives this year. World Vision Microloans is an organization that empowers people by providing them tools to enrich their communities and the lives of themselves and their families.  This loans provided help make businesses and jobs a reality. The effect of local business success leads to growth, educational opportunities, and self sustainability in these worthy communities. What a beautiful thing!

The reality is that 1 out of every 5 people in the world live on less than $1.25 a day. World Vision works in 100 countries across the world. They commit to a community for 12-18 years, training leaders, educating children, and building the communities physically. Additionally, once a loan is repaid by an entrepreneur that money is then awarded to another entrepreneur in the same community. That money can go a long way and make a huge difference.

Here’s how World Vision microfinance works:

• World Vision’s local lender approves an entrepreneur.
• The loan appears on Micro.
• You choose the entrepreneur that interests you.
• Entrepreneur builds a business and you follow the progress.
• Once the loan is repaid, your donated loan is recycled with other entreprenurs in the country.

The amazing thing to me is most of the borrowers are women who just want to be able to provide for their children.  The current repayment rate is 98.7%.  That’s amazing!  Empowering!
